Portrait of Rebecca Franks

This is an oil on canvas copy of an 18th century portrait that is in England. Rebecca Franks’ father (owner of Woodford from 1771 to 1781) was eventually exiled to England after being charged with treason. Rebecca, thought of as one of the most beautiful and wittiest women in Revolutionary Philadelphia, entertained many of the British officers at Woodford.
